Archduke's Top 100 Albums of the Zeros

I was going to post this a month ago but never really got around to it, partly because I was busy and partly because I think it's a pretty half-assed list. Actually, totally because I think it's a half-assed list. Apparently indicative of the week it took me to slap this thing together, I came back to something Greil Marcus said once:

"List making is definitely the first retreat of the lazy. It is obviously easier to make a list than it is to write an essay. Still, an essay is fundamentally one idea that you play out; this kind of column is much more complicated. And making a good list, while fun, is difficult because it has to be done relatively quickly. If you belabor it, then it collapses under its own weight."

Fine from a guy who has made more lists than fucking Kris Kringle, less respectable coming from a person who has only been doing this professionally for a year. A lot of this stuff was ranked completely in spite of merit; most of these were records that I listened to the most, period. Hell, there are records I heard this year that I'd put ahead of more than a few of these. I know full well that Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? is not even remotely better than Silent Shout. Some of it is pure nostalgia (I was only 14 when Kid A came out, mind you). There isn't a single EP on the whole list. Whole genres have been ignored. There are entries I couldn't make a solid case for if given time. Bottom line is that I love lists, and I love list season, so here's one more.
